The hotel was purchased by South Florida State College Foundation in 1988, with the goal of preserving it's historical character. Just outside the hotel's doors lies the charming downtown area of Avon Park. Take a drive down the mile long mall lined with shops, and cultural landmarks. Explore the historic streets and stop in to visit the nearby Historical Society and Arts and Cultural museums.
